{"id":1108,"date":"2008-11-18T13:12:44","date_gmt":"2008-11-18T17:12:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/?p=1108"},"modified":"2008-11-18T13:12:44","modified_gmt":"2008-11-18T17:12:44","slug":"decor-dilemmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/?p=1108","title":{"rendered":"Decor dilemmas."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am not frilly.\u00a0 Nor am I lacy.\u00a0 And as much as I like kittens and puppies, I refuse to decorate with them.\u00a0 This, in combination with having a baby (toddler) girl becomes a problem.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout our house, Dan and I have chosen decor based on simplicity, clean lines and neutrals with pops of colour.\u00a0 \u00a0And thankfully, our new house was VERY tastefully painted before we moved in&#8230;well, the main living areas were anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Exceptions:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The main bathroom is a deep green which desperately needs to be changed.\u00a0 But since we are planning on gutting that bathroom in the next couple of years, I can live with the green for now.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The basement is light blue and steel grey.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a basement and has few windows.\u00a0 Dark paint would not have been my choice and is up high on my list of things to change\/fix.<\/li>\n<li>Jaia&#8217;s room.\u00a0 It&#8217;s light blue.\u00a0 I could dress up the colour, but I won&#8217;t.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t like blue walls.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a personal preference &#8211; but I&#8217;m just not that into blue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And that brings us to the point of the post.\u00a0 Since we moved in I have been trying so hard to come up with an idea for how to decorate Jaia&#8217;s room.\u00a0 Her nursery was cute, but a little boring, and I wanted to do something really fun this time around.\u00a0 You are only a kid once, right?<\/p>\n<p>The first piece of the puzzle was the bedding.\u00a0 I searched and searched but nothing I found was quite right.\u00a0 I even contemplated making my own but quickly remembered that I don&#8217;t know how to sew.\u00a0 And then a random search one day brought me to a website where the perfect bedding was ON SALE!\u00a0 I bought it immediately and couldn&#8217;t be more pleased with it.<\/p>\n<p>And now, with colour palette decided on thanks to the bedding, we were one step closer to coming up with an idea for the wall colour\/style.<\/p>\n<p>But nothing came to mind.\u00a0 Nothing that I was 100% sure of, anyway.\u00a0 And here we are, 6 months into living\u00a0in our new house and the walls are still blue.\u00a0 And they remain,\u00a0but for one,\u00a0completely blank.\u00a0 It seems very &#8216;unfinished&#8217;.\u00a0 And it turns out that I&#8217;m VERY non-commital when it comes to paint colours and wall hangings.<\/p>\n<p>And then yesterday, I found it.\u00a0\u00a0I was scouring websites to find something, anything, that might inspire me.\u00a0 And finally, months\u00a0into my search, there it was.\u00a0 An idea.\u00a0 A real idea.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait.\u00a0 We are starting this weekend and hopefully, in just a few days, we&#8217;ll be done.\u00a0 And Jaia will finally have her perfect (or make that my perfect) room.<\/p>\n<p>One more thing scratched off the list.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am not frilly.\u00a0 Nor am I lacy.\u00a0 And as much as I like kittens and puppies, I refuse to decorate with them.\u00a0 This, in combination with having a baby (toddler) girl becomes a problem.
