<\/a><\/a>A few of our friends and family members have keen, keen eyes.\u00a0 I posted pictures yesteray of Jaia with food smeared all over her face, but what her biggest fans were noticing was her bangs, and the fact that I had cut them.<\/p>\n

Normally, a baby’s first hair cut is one parents leave as long as possible, take a million pictures of and\u00a0quite likely\u00a0cry over (well, the mamas, anyway).\u00a0 It was not that way with us.\u00a0 I decided at the last minute a couple of nights ago that something had to be done about Jaia’s hair.\u00a0 My intention for months has been to let her bangs grow out so that -at some point – she’d have hair that was all one length.\u00a0 It was a little risky and unconventional for a little girl, but it was what I decided.<\/p>\n

And then Jaia’s independence took the reigns.\u00a0 Although she adores wearing hats, she despises wearing any kind of elastic or barette in her hair.\u00a0 No amount of\u00a0showing her of how pretty she is in the mirror has convinced her to keep hair accessories in.\u00a0 So her bangs were spending the majority of the day in her eyes.\u00a0 And it was starting to bother her.\u00a0 And it was driving me nuts.<\/p>\n

So out of the blue, I grabbed the scissors and *snippety snip* – \u00a0they were shorter.\u00a0 Not enough for anyone to notice – or so I thought – just enough to be functional.\u00a0 I didn’t want to make a big deal of it because I literally cut off less than half an inch it was in no way meant to be a *real* first haircut.\u00a0 That will come – with a little more pomp and celebration…and tears from the mama\u00a0– and this\u00a0way I have a\u00a0more months to get ready for the real thing.\u00a0 Or to try to convince that little (stubborn) bean to leave a barette in now and again.\u00a0<\/p>\n
